A Single Truth
Jenny Schwartz

They branded him. A tiny tattoo on the second knuckle of his right hand, an inverted Y, an upsilon in Greek, the sign of distorted thought. His mind could not be trusted.

"You believe too many things," his mom said.

But she was wrong, he knew. His trouble was holding faith with one belief. See two sides to a problem and you're fair; see thirteen and you're unbalanced.

In moral issues he'd found the fifth dimension and his navigation through it made ordinary life erratic.

So many possibilities and only one truth, and people blundering through it. Rage and tears and cycles of grief shot through with joy.

Jenny Schwartz is an Australian writer. Double Dragon eBooks published her first fantasy novel, The Walk Alones. Her short stories have appeared in From the Asylum, Alienskin, and Coyote.
