Carrie-Ann
Baade
Carrie
Ann Baade first became conscious in New Orleans and was influenced
by the richness and magic created by the confluence of cultures.
To soon her family moved to Colorado, where the vastness of
a rural upbringing would soon give way to a fecund imagination.
Influenced by the movies of Terry Gilliam and the writings of
C. S. Lewis, she has sought to create meaningful paintings layered
with inventiveness and imagination. Often traveling around the
globe in search of forgotten paintings, Carrie has created a
unique synthesis of plundered and original imagery that is starting
to gain her recognition. As an aspiring professor, she has held
adjunct teaching positions at Washington College, the University
of Delaware, Cecil County Community College, and Delaware College
of Art and Design. She received her B.F.A. from the School of
the Art Institute of Chicago in 1997 and a Masters in Painting
from the University of Delaware in 2003. Carrie is currently
a full time painter and a recent resident of Philadelphia where
she accompanied by her 12 toed cat. See more of her work at
