Lord of the Vaginas: Hegemony, Desire and the Postmasculinist Subject in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings
D. Harlan Wilson

It is not a burning eye. It is a flaming, electrified vagina — the root of all evil that produces the desires, bodies and identities of the predominantly male subjects in the films. Note the two sharp phalli that support the Vagina of Sauran like a hammock.

D. Harlan Wilson is an noted man of letters. His official website is www.dharlanwilson.com. (NOTE: The above theory was written before Wilson viewed the film Transamerica (2005), starring Felicity Huffman and Kevin Zegers, the latter of whose character submits a similar piece of microcritisim. Zegers' microcriticism is in fact slightly more detailed and compelling than Wilson's and readers are encouraged to consider "Lord of the Vaginas" in comparison and contrast with this moment in the film.)
